Humanizing Primary Healthcare Access
Lake Street Clinic needed a website that communicated its family healthcare services clearly while providing patients with a straightforward way to explore care options and get in touch.
The goal was to create a minimal, professional, and approachable digital experience that made essential information easy to find without overwhelming visitors in times of medical stress. I worked directly with clinical staff to understand patient expectations, reviewed competing medical practices, and translated those insights into a modern digital platform.
Stakeholder Discovery & Competitor Benchmarking
I gathered clinical and administrative requirements directly from the practice leads. One priority was non-negotiable: keep the experience minimal, distraction-free, and accessible for elderly patients and families.
Competitor analysis revealed that most healthcare sites in the Niagara region were dense with medical jargon and confusing sub-navigation. We chose an opposite path: clear typography, generous spacing, and scannable visual anchors.
Structural Clarity Before Visual Polish
Before introducing color and typography, I created low-fidelity wireframes to establish the hierarchy of walk-in clinic hours, family doctor enrollment, and contact methods. This verified that prospective patients could complete key actions in less than two clicks.

Seamless External Appointment Booking
Rather than treating appointment scheduling as an isolated external portal, I integrated direct entry points throughout the service exploration journey. Patients exploring specialized clinical services can immediately transition to booking without cognitive friction.
A Welcoming, High-Trust Digital Front Door
The finished WordPress website brought together doctor profiles, patient testimonials, walk-in notifications, and online registration. The clinic reported immediate reductions in repetitive phone enquiries and high adoption of the online registration flow.
